A recognized industry leader in industrial software and digital transformation, Jim Nyquist spent his career at Emerson in the industrial automation business. Over a 44-year career, Jim held several executive positions around the world for Emerson. Most recently, and prior to retirement from Emerson in June 2021, he served as Chairman of systems and software, a $3B unit of Emerson’s $11B Automation Solutions business and was also President of the Americas. Nyquist brings decades of experience in process automation plus a deep understanding of advanced digital transformation tools including cloud engineering, virtualization, workflow automation and real-time analytics that combine to drive both capital project certainty and operational safety and efficiency for industrial and process manufactures. Jim began his tenured career with Emerson as an application engineer for Fisher Controls in 1977 and held numerous roles spanning sales and marketing, operations and general management residing in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe, including President of Europe, and President of Global Sales. Most notably, Nyquist served as Group President of systems and software for 11 years where he dramatically broadened Emerson’s global software and engineering portfolio through acquisitions and organic growth. Nyquist was an officer of Emerson, a member of Emerson’s Process Executive Group and has served on several industry and community boards. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University.
