Mike is a founding member of the Chrysalix team with 20 years’ experience in technology investing, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, and strategic business planning, 15 of those years as a venture capitalist. His track record includes leading Chrysalix investment in TU Delft spinout Epyon Power, which grew to become the European leader in electric vehicle charging technology resulting in its successful acquisition by the ABB Group, at the time the largest EV infrastructure deal to date. Mike is currently a Director on the Boards of Chrysalix portfolio companies GaN Systems and General Fusion, and an observer on the Boards of MineSense and Brammo.
Over the last few years Mike has focused increasingly on understanding and unlocking the promise of emerging “exponential technologies” and is an alumni of Singularity University. He has been an active angel investor in disruptive technology startups related to A.I., robotics and quantum computing, including D-Wave, 1Qbit and Kindred.ai. His entrepreneurial experience includes the co-founding of a successful digital health startup pioneering intelligent automation in veterinary medicine.
Prior to joining Chrysalix, Mike worked in strategic planning with Starbucks Coffee Company’s Corporate Business Alliances Group building joint venture businesses into new product categories, market verticals and international geographies contributing to the company’s highest period of growth and profitability.
Mike holds dual citizenship with Canada and the Netherlands. Leveraging his passion for building and exploration, he spent time living and working in Europe where he built a 25 metre classic Dutch sailing ship (Tjalk) and chartered it on the Ijselmeer and North Sea.
Mike has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
