Joe is responsible for deal sourcing and extended due diligence on investment opportunities, helping Chrysalix portfolio management teams meet their full potential and ensuring productive relationships with Limited Partners. Joe is a Director on the board of Enbala, and is an Observer on the boards of both General Fusion and Inventys. He also works closely with NanoSteel and MineSense.
Joe has more than nine years of experience in product development, engineering, operations, project management, sales, business development, marketing and venture capital. Joe studied Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University, earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. His Master’s research was focused on developing software to control complex physical systems. More specifically, his thesis project was designing a program to control plasma inside a Tokomak nuclear fusion reactor.
After school, Joe participated in an exclusive Engineering Leadership Development Program with Ingersoll Rand, a Fortune 500 industrial technology conglomerate. Joe spent roughly one year with three separate business units in various locations across the United States. He honed his engineering skills as a manufacturing engineer with a construction equipment company, a new product development engineer with a security technology company, and a project engineer with a building automation and controls company. He then moved into a business development and sales role with FlexEnergy, a venture-backed alternative energy startup.
Soon after, Joe attended Harvard Business School where he earned his MBA. During his time at Harvard, Joe founded and served as CEO of a retail tech startup, was named one of Business Insider’s 27 Most Impressive Students at HBS, was awarded the prestigious R.F. Jasse Distinguished Award in Entrepreneurship and Leadership, and won the Rock Accelerator Award for excellence in entrepreneurship. He also spent a summer working as an Associate with Cue Ball, a Boston-based venture capital firm investing mainly in software startups.
