Allison Johnson

Allison is a corporate marketing professional with more than fifteen years’ experience in strategic communications, marketing, public relations and media relations for the technology sector. She has worked with both startups and major corporations.

In her role as the Director of Marketing at Chrysalix, Allison oversees the company’s strategic communications and media relations activities, brand and messaging, while also providing support to portfolio companies as they work towards commercializing breakthrough innovations in industrial technology.

Allison was previously responsible for the corporate marketing activities at a national wireless accelerator, as well as providing public relatoins and media relations support for Canada’s largest telecommunications provider during its sponsorship of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She has also led the communications activities at a rapidly growing mobile technology startup, which was recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People and the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Allison has a BA Honours from Queen’s University and an MSc Management from the London School of Economics. In addition to being an active fundraiser and volunteer in her local community, Allison enjoys many outdoor activities including running, skiing and tennis.

Matthias is a former member of the Executive Committee and Director of Projects & Technology at Royal Dutch Shell. His previous roles include Executive Vice President of Development & Technology, Managing Director of Sll Deepwater Services, and Director of Petroleum Development Oman. Matthias holds a Doctorate in Earth Sciences from the University of Basel, is an Honorary Professor of the China University of Petroleum, and an industry advisor for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mark is the former Chief Marketing Officer at GE Energy responsible for $45 billion in business including thermal & renewable power generation; oil & gas exploration, development & transport; electric transmission & distribution; and industrial controls. Mark holds a BSc Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

MICHAEL PHELPS

Michael has extensive expertise in executive management, private equity and finance in the natural resource and energy sectors. He was a longstanding executive at Westcoast Energy (a natural gas company acquired by Duke Energy in 2002) where he served as Chairman and CEO from 1992 to 2002, as Chief Financial Officer from 1987 to 1989, and as a corporate development executive from 1982 to 1987. Currently Michael serves as the Director and Founder of Dornoch Capital and is a Director on multiple boards including Marathon Oil and Spectra Energy Corporation.

John is the former Vice President, Technology and Development at Teck Resources. John left Teck in 2012 to form PetraScience Consultants Inc., providing exploration and technology services to the mining industry. He is currently the Wold Professor in Environmental Balance for Human Sustainability at Cornell University.

PAUL DE MARTINI

Paul is the former Chief Technology Officer & Vice President Strategy for Cisco Systems Connected Energy Networks where he helped guide the company into the smart grid market. Previously, Paul was Vice President Advanced Technology for Southern California Edison (SCE) where he led R&D, strategic planning and policy development for some of most influential smart grid deployments in the US.

STEFAN HECK

Stefan is a consulting Professor at the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University. Previously he was a Director at McKinsey where he cofounded the Cleantech and Sustainability Transformations practice, and led the Global Semiconductor practice. Stefan is the co-author of the Resource Revolution, exploring how disruptive innovation will create opportunities for 10x improvements in performance and wealth creation.

Peter is a 30-year Executive Business Strategist with expertise in growth and innovation, natural resources and energy, software, technology commercialization and corporate venture capital. Peter’s former senior leadership roles include GE and Computer Associates; he is also a former startup CEO and President. He is currently a senior fellow at the Kellogg Innovation Network and a Partner at Clareo.
