Plas2Fuel's
technology converts mixed waste plastic into sweet crude oil without requiring
sorting and with minimal pre-processing. The process accepts all mixed
waste plastic, much of which is currently landfilled.
Chrysalix
take: Brian Wawro
1.
What is the insight that led to Chrysalix investing?
Chrysalix
is of the view that the waste to energy space will be dominated by those
technologies that are modular and scalable and can utilize multiple types of
feedstocks. With very few new landfills being developed and increasingly
stringent incineration standards being imposed, producers of waste plastic are
facing significantly increasing tipping fees that are damaging the economics of
their businesses. Plas2fuel provides an economic alternative to landfilling and
incineration of the world’s waste plastics.
2.
What is the company’s biggest strength?
Plas2Fuel
has developed the only known mixed waste plastic to oil conversion technology
that accepts ALL types of waste plastic. In addition, the Company has signed
the only known waste to oil off-take agreement with a large US oil refiner.
With strong links to all of the large waste plastic producers in the US and
significant interest world-wide, the Company is very well positioned for
significant early revenue growth and a market leadership position in this
space.
3.
What is the implication of this company being successful?
Each
year several hundred million tons of waste plastic is landfilled or dumped into
the oceans. With significant amounts of potential energy stored in each pound
of waste plastic, Plas2Fuel’s technology holds the promise of unlocking a very
significant new source of energy while at the same time, solving a significant
waste and health issue. The Company’s technology is currently being reviewed
as having significant potential for cleaning up the Pacific Gyre, a vast
floating garbage dump in the Pacific Ocean. This technology is indeed a game
changer.
