Joe joined Chrysalix in 2013. He is responsible for deal sourcing and extended due diligence on investment opportunities, helping Chrysalix portfolio management teams meet their full potential and ensuring outstanding relationships with Limited Partners. Joe is a Board observer at Chrysalix portfolio companies Enbala, InvenTys and General Fusion. He also works closely with NanoSteel, MineSense and BridgeLux.
Joe has more than eight years of experience in product development, engineering, operations, project management, sales, business development, marketing and venture capital. Prior to joining Chrysalix, Joe was Founder and CEO of Chillbaby, a sustainable retail company focused on the baby clothing market. Joe bootstrapped the company while pursuing his MBA at Harvard Business School, where he was the winner of the Rock Accelerator Award, the recipient of the prestigious R.F. Jasse Distinguished Award in Entrepreneurship and Leadership, and was named one of Business Insider’s 27 Most Impressive Students at HBS. In addition, Joe served as Co-Director for the HBS Energy and Environment Club's 2013 Energy Symposium, bringing together the world's premier energy community.
Joe’s previous roles include an Associate with Cue Ball, a Boston-based venture capital firm where he sourced deals, performed in-depth due diligence and conducted value-add projects with portfolio companies; a Business Development Associate with Flexenergy, a cleantech startup company specializing in alternative energy generation; and a participant in the Leadership Development Program with Ingersoll Rand, a Fortune 500 industrial technology conglomerate.
Joe has both a Bachelors and Masters Mechanical Engineering Degree from Lehigh University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is an active endurance athlete and volunteers with the non-profit Engineers without Borders, having served as chapter Vice President and Program Manager for a potable water project in rural Ecuador.
